The Light Compass

Light has always been more than illumination. Across the Gulf, it once guided movement over sea and desert, read through stars, tides, shimmer and changing skies. The Light Compass carried this instinct for orientation into the present, bringing together contemporary works in which light became behaviour, reflection, pulse and silence.

Across Abu Dhabi’s mangroves, oases and urban landscapes, technology was not treated as spectacle but as another instrument of perception. Works moved between the monumental and the meditative, responding to place and to the bodies encountering them. The exhibition did not prescribe a direction. It asked how we orient ourselves, and what we might still learn by attending to what surrounds us.
